common probate and
estate planning terms

How do you price your services?

My services for estate planning are at a flat rate, not hourly, and the cost will depend on such things as whether the client is an individual or married couple, the complexity of the situation, and the number and type of documents I am providing. You will know the total cost before any work is started, and your payment is not expected until all work is complete.

For probate and Family Office consulting work, the cost is an hourly rate and billed on a monthly basis.

What is your client approach to estate planning?

I take a personalized approach with each client, ensuring that the client's needs and concerns are always the top priority.  Your situation is different from every other client, and so the solutions and documents I provide are not "cookie cooker" as a result. We will go over all your alternatives and why each of those alternatives may or may not work.  Your satisifaction is of primary importance to me, and so I want to make sure that your work is not complete until we have fully accomplished your goals.

How long does it take to get my estate planning documents?

The time it takes from start to finish depends on several factors - the complexity of the estate planning needed, your timeliness in providing information needed to complete the work, and your availability in executing the final documents. Most clients' work is finalized within 1-3 weeks.

Do you work with younger clients?

Young couples and individuals are some of my favorite clients!  I truly enjoy helping them navigate through their first experience in the estate planning world and spend as much time as needed helping them understand all the nuances and complexities of things like trusts for descendants or picking the right executor, trustee or guardian.

Can we visit virtually?

Yes. Given how hectic life can be, I'm happy to do video conferences as needed to accommodate your schedule.  Note that the actual execution of any estate planning documents will need to be done in person.

What type of law do you practice, and what is your experience?

I received my law degree from the University of Houston Law Center in 1990 and have practiced law in the estate planning and probate field since that time. My focus is on Wills, Trusts, and Probate, and I have significant experience as well in the Family Office arena, working with high profile, and high net worth families. Accordingly, I also provide consulting to Family Offices in the formation, care and administration of Family Offices.
